Neolithic: the first farmers and herders

Sala VI
At the end of the tenth millennium B.C. the first sedentary communities developed in the Middle East. These will eventually lead to a lifestyle of livestock and farming. In the Valencia area the beginnings of agriculture and livestock lie towards 5500 B.C, as part of the expansion of this new way of life across the Mediterranean. Neolithic is also characterized by the appearance of pottery and new tools manufactured with polished stone, like the materials from Cova de l'Or (Beniarres) and Cova de la Sarsa (Bocairent).
