Daily Life

Numerous objects, images and texts inform us about Romans daily life and their leisure time, which included attendance to public performances, games, parties or using public baths. Dresses, shoes, hairstyle or personal decoration are good examples of their tastes and aesthetics. Romans ate cereals, legumes, fruit, vegetables, meat and fish, although most people had a monotonous diet. The most commonly used containers were made with pottery, rough pots and pans to cook and tableware that was sometimes painted or decorated. Objects manufactured in metal, glass and exceptionally ivory or stone were also used.
